At any company, after age 30, many people take on the role and position of a leader who organizes a team rather than a practitioner who works.
At that time, systematic skills in project management (WBS, EVM, etc.) are necessary. But more than that, understanding work basics determines whether you can succeed as a leader.
Even senior employees may not understand the basics of work correctly.
So, this time I will write three basics of work.
Keep the set time
It is essential to be aware that meetings are a cost.
If one person is late and everyone waits, everyone’s time is wasted.
I feel that many senior employees cannot keep time.
It’s because no one pays attention when the position goes up, and he becomes a great person.
Therefore, the person cannot notice.
Keeping the set time is the same when speaking at a meeting.
If you speak beyond the time you have been given, the entire agenda for the meeting will not end. As a result, you have to extend the meeting time or have everyone meet at another time.
For this reason, when you are in your thirties, it is essential to realize the importance of keeping time and being thorough.
Obey the set rules
To manage a team, you need to set detailed rules.
Daily progress is reflected in the control chart, issues and inquiries are reported as appropriate, etc.
It’s tough to get team members to follow these rules continuously.
So if you become a leader, you must take the initiative, not just ask to do it.
However, it is even more difficult for leaders to follow these management rules than for team members.
The reason is that even if the leader’s tasks are delayed, there are always urgent requests from team members.
Therefore, leaders need to set a time during the day to allow themselves time to follow the rules.
For this reason, it is essential to understand the need to follow the rules when you are in your thirties and to follow the rules.
Be sure to reply
Communication is essential for working as a team.
However, instructions from the boss and contact from members are not always convenient for you.
But you shouldn’t ignore it in such a case too.
I don’t think you will ignore the person in front of you. But emails and chats, is it possible that you never do reply?
Senior employees may think it means “notice yourself” and “think for yourself” to your subordinates.
However, although I have had some experience with such instruction, it only discourages me and does not give good results.
Even among members, there may be cases where they do not respond if something is inconvenient.
Now that it’s the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s mainly online communication. Therefore, if such a person exists, everyone’s work will not proceed.
Answer your thoughts, including Yes or No.
That leads to more efficient work and good results in terms of member development.
For this reason, it is essential to have a habit of responding well from the 30s.
So I wrote three.
I am looking back on my daily work. I have not yet been able to practice the basics of work. I would like to be careful.
